Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to local vehicle manufacturing following the issuance of the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) Executive Order. The company said it will support the government’s electrification efforts through Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s previously announced ₱7-billion investment to locally produce hybrid electric vehicles in the Philippines.

According to MMPC, the investment aligns with the government’s goal of accelerating vehicle electrification while strengthening the country’s automotive manufacturing sector. The company said local hybrid vehicle production is expected to expand domestic manufacturing capabilities, encourage the growth of the automotive supply chain, and contribute to the country’s transition toward more sustainable transportation.

MMPC Chairman Noriaki Hirakata welcomed the EVIS Executive Order, describing it as an important milestone for the Philippine automotive industry. He said Mitsubishi Motors’ global experience in developing electrified vehicles, backed by the brand’s focus on quality, reliability, durability, and safety, positions the company to help advance the country’s electrification objectives through local production.

The automaker added that the hybrid vehicle project is expected to create broader economic benefits beyond vehicle assembly, including opportunities across the local automotive ecosystem. MMPC said it intends to continue working closely with the Philippine government, industry stakeholders, and local communities to support sustainable mobility while strengthening the country’s competitiveness as an automotive manufacturing hub.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has been operating in the country since 1963 and remains one of the country’s longest-running automotive manufacturers. The company currently assembles the Mirage G4 sedan and L300 utility vehicle at its 23-hectare manufacturing facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, which has an annual production capacity of 50,000 units. MMPC said it remains committed to investing in local manufacturing, developing Filipino talent, and supporting the continued growth of the Philippine automotive industry.
